This month’s featured neighborhood is Olivenhain. German for olive grove, Olivenhain is the eastern-most neighborhood in Encinitas and offers upscale country living just a short drive from downtown. There are currently about 1,500 homes in Olivenhain, and low-density zoning ensures that this number is not likely to significantly increase. Gently rolling hills, small ranches with horse stables, and winding two-lane roads give this small community the country feel that residents cherish. Many homes also enjoy ocean views, despite the fact that this community is not on the beach. Olivenhain also features numerous walking, biking and horseback riding trails, and sits close to some of North County’s most popular parks, guaranteeing to make any outdoorsman happy.
