New Encinitas Restaurants: 4 Spots That Opened This Spring 2026
Encinitas is in the middle of a serious run of restaurant openings. We’ve been watching them stack up since February, and four are now actually open and worth your time. The other ones you’ve heard about (The Brant, Encinitas Brewing Company, Blank Slate) are still pre-opening, which we’ll touch on at the end.
If you’re new to Encinitas, California (92024), thinking about a move to North County San Diego, or just a local who hasn’t kept up with the 101 corridor and El Camino Real, this is the spring 2026 list.
Pastaria Vivi (Encinitas Village Shopping Center)
Pastaria Vivi (Encinitas Village Shopping Center) 119 N El Camino Real, Suite G | Opened April 2026
The kind of opening that announces itself as a philosophy before it announces itself as a restaurant. Chefs Brandon Jennings and William Treff, both with Michelin kitchen experience, built Pastaria Vivi as four concepts under one roof: fresh handmade pasta, a specialty Italian retail market, casual sit-down dining, and a monthly Vivi Pasta Box subscription. More than 75 rotating pasta-and-sauce combinations, housemade focaccia, burrata made in house. Northern Italian roots, California ingredients. Already pulling 4.8 stars from the early crowd, and the focaccia alone is worth the drive. Closes at 5pm on weekends so plan accordingly.
Isola Pizza Bar (Downtown Encinitas)
Isola Pizza Bar (downtown Encinitas) 569 S Coast Hwy 101 | Opened April 30, 2026
The former Death By Tequila space finally has a tenant, and it’s a good one. Isola Pizza Bar’s third San Diego location (after Little Italy and La Jolla) brings chef and owner Massimo Tenino’s Neapolitan wood-fired pizza to the 101 corridor. Tenino is from the Liguria and Piedmont regions in northwestern Italy, and the wood-burning oven is the centerpiece, the way it should be. Reservations are going to matter here once word gets out, especially on weekends.
Coffee Dose (Off El Camino Real)
Coffee Dose (off El Camino Real) 160 S Rancho Santa Fe Rd | Opened March 2026
Coffee Dose’s first North County location. Southern California brand known for what they call cheeky branding (the signature latte is named Anti Bitch Serum, which tells you the tone), a rotating specialty menu, and a kitchen that pulls double duty. Coffee and pastries in the morning, small plates and house cocktails into the evening, plus beer and wine. The vegan and keto pastry program is actually good, not an afterthought.
Mon Cheri Cafe & Bistro (Downtown Encinitas)
Mon Cheri Cafe & Bistro (downtown Encinitas) 947 S Coast Hwy 101 | Recently Opened
The newest of the four and still very much in the soft-launch phase. Mon Cheri is bringing a real French bistro feel to this stretch of the 101: avocado oil instead of seed oils, a wine list with character, and what early visitors describe as a Parisian sidewalk vibe. Open from breakfast through dinner. If you’re someone who appreciates a place that sweats the details, this one is going to be on your rotation.
Looking Just Ahead
A few more openings worth keeping an eye on for the rest of 2026: The Brant (the Huntington Beach bar and grill taking over the former Beachside Bar and Grill site at 806 Coast Hwy 101, targeting late summer), Encinitas Brewing Company (a locally owned brewery, distillery, and restaurant in the former Islands space on Leucadia Boulevard, targeting September), and Blank Slate (the private dining concept from former Ranch 45 owners Aron and Pam Schwartz at 101 N Coast Hwy 101, targeting spring/summer). The dining corridor in 2026 is shaping up to be the best year Encinitas has had in a while.
